Jak dbać o skórę podczas zimy?

How to take care of your skin during winter?

There are days in winter when we only expose the tip of our nose to direct contact with the outside world, and most of the time, we don't reveal much more. Wrapped in coats, scarves, hats, our body is effectively insulated from the influence of the environment. Despite these preventive measures, winter gives the skin a hard time.

Step 1 - gentle cleansing

Cleansing the skin in winter is just as important as in summer, but in winter it is especially worth taking care of the skin's microbiome, which is created by microorganisms that are beneficial for it. Cosmetics that will strengthen the microbe in their composition contain prebiotics and probiotics that support the protective functions of the skin. It is also worth choosing the formula of milk, foam, oil / olive or butter instead of drying products in the form of a gel. They will moisturize the skin and soothe irritations and redness - they will cleanse your skin without irritating it. At this stage, do not forget about the tonic or mist, which will restore the proper pH of the skin and prepare it for further application, which is the care cream.

STEP 2 - moisturizing and greasing

Another important step in winter skin care is to keep it hydrated and oiled, so you'll need a good cream for that. Such a cream in its composition should contain substances that will protect the skin against water loss, and will also strengthen the hydrolipid barrier. It is therefore worth choosing creams that contain e.g. ceramides, hyaluronic acid or vegetable oils rich in fatty acids. As you already know, the skin can be irritated and red in winter, so pay attention to creams that will contain, for example, d-panthenol, allantoin or aloe vera. These are ingredients that will bring relief, soothe irritation and reduce erythema. As we have already mentioned, in winter it is also worth choosing cosmetics that strengthen our skin microbiome, so also reach for creams with prebiotics and probiotics.

STEP 3 - protection your lips

Lips cannot be overlooked in winter care. They are especially prone to drying out. This is not only a cosmetic problem - chapped lips can crack, which in turn leads to painful bites, ulcerations or inflammation. Fortunately, we can effectively protect them!

Do not lick, avoid consuming liquids in the cold

The most important rule of winter lip care is to refrain from moisturizing them with saliva and other liquids. When the lips are dry, we instinctively spread a small amount of saliva on them. Unfortunately, this quickly backfires.

Use sticks and protective lipsticks

Perfect, if the base of their composition are natural ingredients - vegetable butters, beeswax, lanolin, honey. In small amounts, these products end up in our mouths, and then into the digestive tract. So it wouldn't be a very good idea to consume petroleum derivatives, would it? 🙂

Always carry protective pins with you. Luckily, they're cheap and readily available, so there's nothing wrong with having one in every coat, jacket, and purse. The most important thing is to be able to reach for them whenever your lips become unpleasantly chapped.

Lip peeling

Remember that especially in winter your lips need peeling. Until recently, it was a cosmetic that was very difficult to buy, today we can easily find it in every pharmacy or drugstore.

Such a peeling can also be prepared very quickly at home. Just mix a teaspoon of liquid honey with a little sugar and rub it on your lips. After the treatment, the rest of the cosmetic can be eaten or added to tea. Nothing will be wasted!

Step 4 - Hand protection

In winter, the skin on the hands may not look very aesthetic - redness, cracks and dryness are the most common problems at this time of year. However, this can be remedied, because if we regularly stick to a few basic rules, we can avoid the problem of dry hands.

In winter, it is worth wearing gloves, because the frost has a very negative effect on the hands, and in addition, in this way we will avoid frostbite and its consequences. The skin on the hands is very thin and delicate, so it cannot be exposed to low temperatures. Another important issue is hand washing, and the right products we use for this purpose. It is worth making sure that hand soaps are gentle and have the right pH. When cleaning, washing dishes, etc., it is worth remembering to use protective gloves. Another important issue is the choice of a good hand cream that will protect and regenerate your hands. In order for the cream to work well in winter, it is worth choosing products with the right ingredients. What ingredients should be in winter creams? Certainly, these are vitamins, especially A and E, you can also use vitamin ointment from the pharmacy, which has a high concentration of these ingredients.

Another desirable ingredients are glycerin and urea, which moisturize and protect against water loss. It is good that the cream also contains allantoin, which soothes irritations and redness. D-panthenol, which should also be included in a hand cream or lotion, works in a similar way.
